image SATA PRESIDENT: PROFESSOR RASHID BHIKHA
Prof.Rashid Bhikha, a qualified pharmacist, began his career by establishing Be-Tabs Pharmaceuticals in 1974, which until its sale to Ranbaxy Laboratories on the 01st May 2007 was the largest privately owned generic pharmaceutical company in South Africa.

In 1992, he obtained certificates in Ayurveda and Unani Herbal Healing, followed by a certificate in Unani Medicine for Health Professionals from Hamdard University in Pakistan in 1997

He iniated the training of Unani-Tibb at the School of Natural Medicine at the University of the Western Cape in 2003 and completed his PhD titled "African Renaissance in Health Education: Developing an intergrative programme of Unani-Tibb training for health care professionals in Southern Africa" in 2005

He is also a member of the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa(AHPCSA)

 

image NATIONAL CHAIRPERSON: DR. PINKY MPHAHLELE
Dr. Pinky Mphahlele started her career as a nurse in 1978 at Baragwanatu Hospital and later moved to Johannesburg Hospital in 1986 where she worked in intensive care. Since then she increased her experience at various private hospitals until deciding to study Unani-Tibb in 2006 through the University of Western Cape and The Ibn Sina Institute of Tibb. Currently Dr. P. Mphahlele has her own clinic and is also a practicing Traditional Healer.

 

image PREVIOUS CHAIRPERSON: DR.FLANGENI MANXIWA
Dr.Flangeni Manxiwa graduated as a Tibb doctor in 2004, after a successful completion of the one-year post graduate Tibb course for Healthcare Professionals conducted through the University of the Western Cape. With an extensive training background in clinical primary healthcare nursing, he joined the Institute and has been involved in the training of Unani-Tibb at the University of the Western Cape at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
